AEL by-laws

business

While the member-elected leadership has considerable responsibility for day-to-day operations the by-laws establish fairly rigorous parameters within which leadership must function. More importantly, the by-laws themselves and all amendments to them require membership approval. Additionally, membership itself reserves the authority to initiate amendments. Leadership has the responsibility to review by-laws to assure compliance with relevant law and good organizational and business practice but its authority in by-law matters is confined to recommendations as to what, in its judgment, represents appropriate additions or modifications.

As initially constructed in the early 1980s, AEL was intended from the outset to be an inclusive, “member-driven” organization. Association by-laws reflect that philosophy. The by-laws, including their occasional amendments over the years, have served AEL well. PROPOSED BYLAW AMENDMENTS
